My name is Turina and I own and run the online store www.thesewingmovement.com along with my husband as a ‘silent’ partner. I purchased the sewing patterns we currently stock as part of a homeschooling store I purchased early 2013.
I loved sewing as a child, took it as an elective in college and a fabric design course, as well as other smaller courses such as pattern drafting and cutting, machining etc. after college, and worked in the clothing industry before marriage and children.
I also started out well, as a mother, and did make an attempt to do some home sewing, although life eventually got in the way and I nearly stopped altogether. I have in the last few years however had a renewed interest in crafts and sewing, and a pattern store was ideal to kick start the new interest.
The Sewing Movement currently stocks historically influence sewing patterns, as well as some accessory patterns including personal products, nappies etc. some toddler patterns and modest patterns that are stock from the previous owner that I will not be restocking. I have not decided on the goal of the Sewing Movement yet, but I will definitely carry on with the Historical influence. I will also eventually publish our own patterns, both epatterns and printed patterns, I am going to cater for children that are larger than the ‘average’ measurements. So if you have any ideas let me know
